چکیده

Michele Zorzi and Ramesh R. Rao Abstract—In this paper, we consider the slotted ALOHA protocol with capture, in a mobile communication environment, in the presence of Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing. The capture probabilities and their asymptotic value, as the number of colliding packets tends to infinity, are computed. A sufficient condition, under which this limit is positive, is identified and expressed in terms of the spatial distribution of the users. Also, various models for this latter distribution are discussed. These results help identify the region in which the system may achieve a positive stable throughput. Finally, a retransmission control scheme, that enhances the throughput, is considered, and the stability of the system is rigorously proven. We also show that the use of retransmission control is unavoidable if the network performance predicted in some recent literature is to be achieved. Mobile radio slotted ALOHA with capture, diversity and retransmission control in the presence of shadowing

In this paper, the capture performance of a random access scheme in the presence of Rayleigh fading, shadowing and diversity is studied. The conditional throughput Cn, i.e., the average number of packets which are correctly received per slot, given the number of colliding packets, n, is computed, as well as its limit as n ! 1. Some different diversity schemes are compared. Also, retransmission ...

Retransmission Control in Mobile Radio Slotted Aloha

For the slotted ALOHA protocol in a mobile radio environment, a retransmission control scheme is proposed, and a rigorous analysis is developed to prove the stability of the resulting system. This analysis is shown to apply to virtually any model for the spatial distribution of the users. It is also shown that the use of retransmission control is unavoidable if the network performance predicted...

The 18th Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC’07) A Partial Spectrum Retransmission Scheme using a Dynamic Spectrum Control for Broadband Single Carrier Transmission Systems

This paper proposes a partial spectrum retransmission scheme using a dynamic spectrum control for broadband single carrier transmission systems. In the proposed scheme, using a dynamic spectrum control in which discrete spectrum of the transmitted signal is mapped onto an arbitrary part of the assigned spectrum, only a certain amount of deeply faded spectrum components are retransmitted via a p...

Adaptive Flow QoS Management Model for Wireless Communication in Mobile Environments

Mobile environments are based on wireless communication, and wireless networks that provide communication services via radio signals. Although both mobile and wireless systems may be free from space constraints, they suffer from certain unstable characteristics. These problems can be compensated by applying some countermeasures to the communication environment. This paper presents an adaptive c...

RLC Effects on Throughput in a Mobile System

Today wireless data communication is growing rapidly. In particular, multimedia and Internet communication by wireless systems are the most popular services. Also, the architecture of wireless networks is varying to provide such services better. In this paper, we review UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network) focusing on the RLC (Radio Link Control) sub-layer, its error recovery mechanism...
